The Skagit River Poetry Foundation invites the community to our 5th annual auction and brunch, “A Child’s Garden of (the uni) Verse” on Sunday May 4th from 1:00pm to 4:30pm at the Vinery at Christianson’s Nursery. This venue is a perfect setting for a playful afternoon.

Usher in spring with a children’s garden themed party and take a stroll through the Foundation’s history as they share their mission of supporting literacy through poetry. The featured event will be the live and silent auction where attendees will bid on a wide range of items, experiences, and packages to raise funds for the organization. For example, bid on a Murder Mystery Dinner at Chateau de Reims, Paris, 1937. A six course dinner, costumes and scripts will all add to the fun-filled evening. How about a Moroccan Cooking Class and Dinner?  Step into a Kasbah and feast on a delectable dinner that you have prepared.

This event will include a delicious Dessert Dash, Raise-Your-Hand for Kids, a Secret Garden Photo Booth with costumes and props and Toss-a-Ring on a Garden Gnome game will add to the festivities. A hearty brunch will be included and guests will not go home hungry because Master Chef, Georgia Johnson, is in the kitchen.

About the Venue – The Vinery:

Because this historical structure was once a stationary pea vining site from the 1940s to the 1960s, Christianson’s named it ‘The Vinery’ and it is now open as an event venue. Christianson’s Nursery provides a picturesque setting, capturing the essence of an English country garden. The historic buildings on the property offer a sense of rustic elegance, providing a refreshing blend of vintage character and atmosphere. The enchanting gardens and architecture will provide a charming backdrop to our garden themed event.

About the Skagit River Poetry Foundation:

The Skagit River Poetry Foundation (SRPF), a local education non-profit, has trained area teachers using professional poets to help build literacy skills in area classrooms since 1998. The SRPF brings poetic voices to rural and urban communities that reflect diverse multi-ethnic and multi-generational populations, viewpoints, and history. When you support the Skagit River Poetry Foundation you support student learning, mental and emotional health, and community enrichment. SRPF collaborates with poets from around the nation to bring poetry into the community when they host the Skagit River Poetry Festival every two years in La Conner, WA. Students are at the heart of their mission. Join the party on May 4th and give so they may continue to blossom through the power of poetic expression.
