We hope you are well and stay that way!
We understand the sense of concern we all have surrounding COVID-19 .
Here is what Skagit River Poetry Foundation is planning:
- Our poets in the schools residencies have gone virtual. With the closure of schools we are providing teachers and students lessons that can supplement the already wonderful work students, parents and teachers are doing during this very weird time.
- The May 16th fundraiser with Tony Curtis will be rescheduled. Depending on Tony’s availability, we hope to schedule it for the same time in 2021. We will keep you updated on this.
- We are continuing to plan our 2020 Biennial Festival (scheduled for October 1-4), while monitoring this complicated public health situation. All of our festival 2020 poets have been contacted and know we are preparing for what may happen: cancellation. If we do cancel the festival, we would reschedule it for October 2021.
Skagit County is asking that the public do their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19:
- Stay home when sick and limit close contact with others in your household who are not sick.
- Call ahead and do not go to the emergency room unless seriously ill.
- Even if you are not ill, avoid visiting hospitals, long term care facilities or nursing homes to the extent possible unless you must.
- Practice excellent personal hygiene habits.
- Stay away from people who are ill, especially if you are 60 and older or have underlying health conditions
- Pay attention to recommendations from Skagit County Public Health and DOH.
We appreciate your generous support as we work through this difficult time.
Be well, wash your hands, stay home if you are sick, and practice physical distancing. But don’t be socially distant!
Yours with poetry,
Molly McNulty, Executive Director, Skagit River Poetry Foundation
